After determining that the human papillomavirus (HPV), HPV-related diseases, and the high cost of the Gardasil (the HPV vaccine) are issues students face, these medical student organizations decided to raise funds that would help make Gardasil more affordable to female students at USC.
The funds raised through the Cervix Project will be donated to the Thomson Student Health Center at the University of South Carolina and will be used to fund an educational campaign on cervical cancer prevention and reduce the overall cost of the vaccine. Our goal this year is to raise $8,000 for the college students who utilize the services at Thomson Student Health Center. Reaching this goal would help make Gardasil a more affordable option for hundreds of female college students.
There are many ways you can get involved with and support the Cervix Project. We would love for you to invite your family, friends, and colleagues to join us at the event on November 12, 2010. We will be collecting a $5 donation at the door. You can also purchase tickets ahead of time from a Cervix Project committee member. Committee members are also selling T-shirts promoting the concert for $13 (short sleeve) or $15 (long sleeve) and raffle tickets for $1. Proceeds from the t-shirt and raffle ticket sales go to this great cause.
To make a donation, please contact any of the committee members. All donations should be made to Medical Student Association and can be mailed to:
